Preparation of Ag0 Nanoparticles by EDM Method as Catalysts for Oxygen Reduction

At present, platinum-based catalysts are the best cathode catalysts, but due to their high prices, they difficult use widely. Under alkaline conditions, silver is a better low-cost substitute. Here, physical preparation method—electrical discharge machining (EDM)—is used prepare Ag0 nanoparticles. The method simple and has yield. diameter of prepared nanoparticles about 30 nm nanoparticle surface rich in defects. These defects enhance adsorption O2. In addition, can cause tensile strain on catalyst, causing d-band center move upward. upward shift jointly improve energy catalytic performance Ag0. This work provides new for engineering construction metal catalysts.
